The second year of the partnership between BlueSTEM and El Reno High School brought five high school Juniors into the program. The students, dubbed the Fab 5, opened additional opportunities for high school students to gain valuable inquiry-based, authentic research at BlueSTEM and USDA GRL.
Massey Beard, Ben Bosler, Kylee Carroll, Ben Houston, and Anna Jeffrey worked diligently on professional research projects under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Kindiger and Dr. Caitlin Rottler. Students presented their research posters at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Annual Scholarly Fair, where they were one of two high schools invited to attend the undergraduate event.
The end of the year field trip for the Fab 5 included the Oklahoma Science Museum and OKC Escape Room with food from Chick-fil-A, empire slice, and Cuppies and Joe.
